Jim Cantrell has a broad base of experience, establishing himself as a competent creative manager of Real Estate and a reliable real estate expert witness. He has continually handled a variety of types of real estate in both the private and industrial sectors of the industry, and has been active with Canadian as well as American real estate, handling multi-family, high rise office, industrial/warehouse properties and large hotels. He is a graduate of the University of Miami Business School and was an Associate Professor and member of the Graduate Faculty of Golden Gate University where he taught Property and Asset Management in the MBA program. Jim Cantrell is a Certified Property Manager (CPM) and a member of the faculty of the Institute of Real Estate Management where he teaches courses in operations and financial analysis. He has been a contributor to the Journal of Property Management and served IREM on many national committees. He has served as President of the San Francisco Chapter of IREM and regional Vice President of IREM. He is the recipient of the 1987 Franklin H Lyons Award “CPM of the Year” and the 2001 and 2007 Instructor of the Year awarded by the San Francisco chapter of IREM. Jim Cantrell is the recipient of the 2013 Lloyd D Hanford Sr. Distinguished Faculty Award from the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) for extraordinary dedication to the education process and the advancement of knowledge within the property management profession. He began his career with Arlen Realty as a property supervisor handling property in the United States Investment Fund Portfolio and held the position of Equity Administrator with CleveTrust Realty supervising a portfolio throughout the eastern part of the United States. He has served as Treasurer of Regency Equities, a Real Estate Investment Trust on NASDQE and was President of Plaza Equity Management Inc. with a mixed National Portfolio of approximately $275 million in assets. Jim Cantrell founded Cantrell, Harris & Associates in 1986 and has served as President of this San Francisco based property management company. He handles a diverse portfolio including a number of foreclosed assets throughout the country. Jim Cantrell has specialized in the turnaround of properties with deferred maintenance and mismanagement and has established hands-on management programs that maximize the potential of the investments. He is currently active in the real estate expert witness sector.
